Meet the Person Managing Your Charlotte Investment

Yahira Velasco is a Lenoir, North Carolina native and graduate of UNC Greensboro. After college, she served six years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, with her final assignment at Joint Base Charleston. She later transitioned into real estate and now leads Tide PM Charlotte, helping property owners protect their investments and reach their long-term financial goals.

Choosing who manages your property comes down to trust, and trust starts with actually knowing the person. So before we ever talk about your rental, let me tell you a bit about myself and how I ended up doing this.

I grew up in Lenoir, North Carolina, right in the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and went to UNC Greensboro. After I graduated, I wanted a stable career and a chance to see the world, so I did what anyone would do: I joined the military. I spent six years on active duty, most of it living overseas, with my last duty station at Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina.

My path into real estate happened almost by accident. As I was separating from the military, I thought I had it all mapped out. I’d just earned my master’s in business and was headed into HR and recruiting. Then I came across a video of a veteran using his VA loan to house hack, buying properties and renting them out. I was fascinated. So I did my own research, took the chance, and bought a property. A year later, I rented it out, and it hit me: I can really do this. I just had to figure out what “this” was.

Turns out, it was property management. Right as I was getting out of the military, Tide was just being founded and hiring for a property manager. I had very little experience, but I figured, why not, and applied. One thing led to another; Tide took a chance on me, and I became a property manager with them back in 2023. Since then, I’ve poured myself into learning this business inside and out and becoming someone owners can rely on.

I do this myself, and I think that’s what makes me a good fit for the owners I work with. With a small portfolio of my own, I understand these decisions from your side of the table, and I love helping owners get the best return on their investment. Now I’m looking forward to digging into the Charlotte market, working with owners, partnering with agents, and building real relationships across the Queen City.
